Why calamansi

For juice bars & cafés.

Most juice bar menus are some version of the same 8 drinks. Calamansi juice is a small addition that changes the whole menu shape. It's the drink that lands differently for Filipino American customers (who grew up with it), curious customers (who've never had a citrus this complex), and health-conscious customers (who want something tart without sugar).

Portion is easy: 4–6 oz per glass, mixed with simple syrup to the customer's spec. Or blend with sugarcane juice (our own Vietnamese yellow cane works beautifully) for a sweet-tart house drink. Or blend with coconut water for a post-workout electrolyte drink.

A 10 kg case covers 250–330 standard servings. For most juice bars, that's 2–3 weeks of service as a featured menu item. Add a calamansi-forward signature drink and you've built a reason customers come back specifically for that menu item.

Applications

Four ways operators use it.

The common builds we see from juice bars & cafés.

01

Pure calamansi juice service

Thaw, portion 4–6 oz, serve over ice with a side of simple syrup so the customer controls sweetness. Premium pricing ($6–$8) is typical.

02

Calamansi + sugarcane blend

Our Vietnamese yellow cane is naturally sweet enough that a 60% calamansi to 40% sugarcane blend needs no added sugar. Killer afternoon drink.

03

Calamansi + ginger (health tonic)

Blend calamansi juice with fresh ginger juice and honey. Sold as a wellness/immunity shot or 8-oz tonic. Big margin.

04

Smoothies & bowls

Use 1–2 oz as the acid in smoothies with pineapple, mango, or coconut. Adds a Filipino-coded brightness that sets bowls apart.

Common questions

About calamansi for this use.

Do I need to sweeten it?+

Calamansi is naturally tart. Most juice bars pair it with simple syrup, honey, or sugarcane juice. The juice itself runs unsweetened so you can tune to customer taste.

How does it pair with sugarcane juice?+

Beautifully. A 60/40 calamansi/sugarcane blend needs no added sweetener. The sugarcane balances the tart, and the calamansi cuts the sugarcane's viscosity. Many juice bars run this as a house drink.

Can I blend it into smoothies without it being too tart?+

Yes. 1–2 oz of calamansi in a 16-oz smoothie adds brightness without dominating. Works especially well with sweet fruits (mango, pineapple) and creamy bases (coconut milk, yogurt).

What's my starter order?+

One 10 kg case. Run it for 2 weeks with a featured calamansi drink on your menu. Track sales. Most juice bars see it become a top-5 drink within the first week.
